HumanLayer Adds a “Human-in-the-Loop” to Agentic AI
HumanLayer (YC F24), founded by Dexter Horthy, has launched an API and SDK designed for “tool-calling” AI agents needing human feedback and approvals for critical decisions. The platform empowers developers to include manual oversight in automated workflows, from back-office approvals to dynamic data labeling, and integrates easily with Slack, SMS, and email. Founder Horthy shares, “I realized that the most useful functions we can give to any software are also the most risky. This is especially true for non-deterministic systems driven by LLMs. I realized that anyone who wants to build agents that do meaningful things will need tools for approval and oversight. So, I started hacking on HumanLayer to enable teams to safely build high-impact agents and put them to work ambiently and autonomously in the background.” Companies using HumanLayer report safer, production-ready AI with continuous human input.
