The Role of The Machine Learning Team

The Machine Learning Team is leading the charge in automating figure creation by transforming user inputs—such as experimental protocols and research articles—into precise, editable visuals using an extensive icon and template library. We’re looking for a Machine Learning Engineer ready to take on unique challenges beyond off-the-shelf solutions.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement novel ML architectures for vector graphics generation
• Research and evaluate cutting-edge approaches in generative AI and computer vision
• Drive technical decisions around model architecture and deployment
• Collaborate with a small, high-caliber team of ML engineers
• Balance research innovation with practical implementation
• Identify opportunities for leveraging existing open-source solutions
• Build and deploy production-ready ML models
• Set technical direction for core ML infrastructure

What We’re Looking For

• Experience building high-impact ML models from concept to implementation (e.g., models with demonstrated user adoption like Adobe Firefly)
• Mix of startup and big tech company experience preferred
• Prior work on computer vision, generative AI, or text-to-image models is a plus
• PhD or Master’s degree required
• Research background preferred but not required if compensated by strong industry experience
• Strong Python programming skills
• Experience with deep learning frameworks as well as building and deploying production ML models
• Computer vision expertise preferred but not required
• Tech stack – Machine Learning/Deep Learning frameworks, Computer Vision, Vector Graphics (SVG), Text-to-image models
