Happy New Year, and welcome to the first Develocity newsletter of 2025! With things warming up in the devtools space, we’re excited to see how the year unfolds. If our packed feeds are any indication, predictions for the year ahead are already flying in—and the spotlight is (unsurprisingly) on AI.

Jumping on that bandwagon, there’s no doubt AI agents and teammates will continue to become integral to both business and personal applications.

The question “How can we measure whether developer productivity increases or decreases with GenAI tools?” still dominates discussions in our networks and will continue to do so. It’s a complex conversation, especially when developers have long argued that their biggest hurdles—technical debt and poor documentation—still remain unresolved. We might have just the solution you need this week!

2024 was marked by a disconnect between what developers need and what leadership prioritizes. Despite massive investments in AI, the DORA report showed declines in speed and stability, with AI introducing new security concerns due to poorly generated code.

What do developers want in 2025? Better support for productivity and experience—alongside AI tools that actually make a difference. This week’s newsletter explores some exciting updates that reflect these themes, and we have a feeling this is just the beginning of a very exciting year ahead.

🔦 DevTool of the Week

Autoblocks🏗️ Autoblocks AI Empowers Teams to Build Better LLM Products

Very excited to bring you our first DevTool of the Week: Autoblocks AI

Autoblocks was founded in the spring of 2023 by brothers Haroon Choudery and Hamza Choudery, and Adam Nolte. This week they are starting their first launch week; we are all over it and we think you should be too!

The idea for Autoblocks came from Haroon’s work running Not A Bot, an AI newsletter with over 50k subscribers. Conversations with pioneers like Amjad Masad (Replit) and May Habib (Writer) revealed a common challenge: businesses working with large-scale user data struggled to monitor their LLM-powered products effectively. Haroon, an experienced ML engineer, spotted a gap in existing observability and MLOps tools and teamed up with Hamza and Adam to create Autoblocks.

Fast forward a couple of years Autoblocks is helping product teams identify AI vulnerabilities, detect edge cases, and improve trustworthiness in GenAI products. The platform enables teams to debug error types, fine-tune datasets, and test code changes—all while integrating seamlessly into existing workflows. And they do it well. Just check out the testimonials on their website for evidence of that.

What sets them apart? We think, this user summed it up perfectly:

“The beauty of Autoblocks? It’s unopinionated by design. In the chaotic world of LLMs, that flexibility is invaluable.” – Zahid Mahmood, CTO at Anterior

We look forward to seeing how the year unfolds for you Autoblocks! We’re excited!
